Force Staff

Utility · 2,200gold

Push any unit 600 units — an ally out of the fire, an enemy into yours.

How to actually use it

Most people buy it and only ever use it to push themselves forward.

  1. 1

It pushes the way the target faces, not the way you face

WhyForce moves the target along its own facing direction. Push from the front and you send it further away; push from behind and it comes toward you.

HowTo bring an enemy back, get behind or beside it first. Pushing from the front is the most common mistake.

  2. 2

Shove enemies into your team, not away from it

WhyPushing someone away buys half a second. Pushing them into your lineup is a kill.

HowLook where your teammates are standing before you push. Ask who he will land in front of.

  3. 3

Save on the burst second, not after the health drops

WhyPushing a healthy ally does nothing. Pushing the ally three people just turned on deletes their whole round of damage.

HowWatch who they are focusing, not the health bars. When three heroes commit to one target, push.

  4. 4

19 seconds — longer than Blink

WhyIt is a one-shot. Once you push out, there is no coming back.

HowDo not use it as a Blink substitute to engage, unless you are certain you will not need a second reposition.

When it is the right call

✓Yes, if…
  • Your team has no way to pull someone out of a losing position.
  • You want mobility but Blink is too expensive or wrong for your hero.
  • You need to shove enemies into your formation or under a tower.
✕No, if…
  • You need long-range initiation — that is Blink.
  • You only ever push yourself forward and never an ally.
  • Two teammates already have one; a third adds very little.

Timing

2,200, usually 12–18 minutes on a support. Cores rarely buy it unless the enemy has one specific disable worth cancelling.

If you skip it, buy

Blink Dagger
You need to engage, not to save.
Hurricane Pike
You are a ranged core who needs distance from yourself.
Glimmer Cape
You only want the ally to survive; you do not need movement.

They have a Force Staff. Now what?

  • Keep a slow or a gap closer for whoever they push out — 600 units takes seconds to walk back.
  • Initiate on the holder. Force Staff cannot save him from being disabled first.
  • Do not commit everyone to one target; pushing one away costs you the kill.
  • He gets one every 19 seconds. Time your next fight around it.
