Core Principles

Static electricity seeks equilibrium. Steal more damage than you give, and victory follows naturally.

Establish Link Early

Get Static Link active before meaningful trades happen. The permanent damage steal is your primary strength - don't leave the lane without using it.

Vision is Victory

Your abilities provide unique vision advantages. Plasma Field's flying vision and Static Link's shared vision should give you information advantage.

Position for Priority

Eye of the Storm's targeting priority matters. Link your highest-value targets and position to maximize the storm's effectiveness.

Patience Wins Wars

Don't force plays without Static Link established. Wait for the right moment, then commit fully when your damage advantage is clear.

Adapt Your Steal

Sometimes you don't want permanent damage steal. Learn to cancel Static Link when temporary buffs are better for the situation.

The Storm Controls Battles

Eye of the Storm isn't just for damage - it's a tactical tool. Use it to control choke points, force enemy positioning, and create opportunities for your team.

Victory through wisdom and strength

Hero Overview

Razor is a lane-dominant agility hero who excels at stealing enemy damage and converting it into his own power. His kit revolves around static electricity, with Plasma Field for poke and vision, Static Link for permanent damage steal, and Eye of the Storm for devastating teamfight presence.

Razor's gameplay centers around establishing lane dominance early with Plasma Field harassment and Static Link pressure. Once you steal enough damage, you become significantly stronger than your opponent. In fights, reposition with Static Link to lock down priority targets while maximizing Eye of the Storm's effectiveness through proper positioning.

  • Plasma Field gives flying vision for safe scouting
  • Strong teamfight control and disabler presence

  • Mana intensive in early game

Ability Analysis

Plasma Field

Plasma Field

Active

Razor releases a storm of plasma that deals damage and slowes enemies it hits. The further enemies are from Razor, the more damage they take.

Cooldown: 9/8/7/6
Mana Cost: 125/140/155/170

Notes: Provides flying vision as it travels out. Use it to scout fog, check Roshan pits, and harass enemies at range. Maximize damage by positioning correctly - enemies at maximum range take full damage.

Static Link

Static Link

Target Unit

Razor creates a link to a target enemy, stealing a portion of their damage over time while Razor charges the link. After being charged, the link permanently drains damage from the target to Razor.

Cooldown: 15/12/9/6
Mana Cost: 50/50/50/50

Notes: Works on debuff-immune and BKB'd enemies. Provides shared vision around the target. Can link illusion heroes like Lone Druid's Spirit Bear, Visage Familiars, Warlock's Golem, and Brewmaster's Primal Split Brewlings. Only moving out of range or death can break the link - Banishes and Cyclones don't stop it.

Eye of the Storm

Eye of the Storm

No Target

A terrible storm rains down from the sky, striking multiple enemy units with lightning bolts that deal damage and reduce armor. Prioritizes enemies affected by Static Link.

Cooldown: 100/80/60
Mana Cost: 150/200/250

Notes: Fully stacks when refreshed. Prioritizes striking Static Linked heroes. Refreshing it adds another buff instead of double linking targets. Does not work on Roshan but works on the Tormentor. Does not hit units in fog. Use to melt towers and priority targets.

Unstable Current (Aghanim's Scepter)

Unstable Current (Aghanim's Scepter)

Passive Aura

Razor gains a static charge aura that periodically stuns nearby enemies.

Cooldown: 0
Mana Cost: 0

Notes: Aghanim's Scepter upgrade adds a damaging stun aura that procs randomly on nearby enemies. Great for late-game teamfights where positioning puts you close to opponents.

Game Strategy

Early Game

Timeframe: 0-15 minutes Objective: Establish lane dominance and steal damage Key: Use Plasma Field to harass and maintain lane pressure; Establish Static Link on enemy hero for permanent advantage; Control creep equilibrium with right clicks; Farm jungle camps when lane is under pressure Items: Phase Boots (Mobility and damage); Vladmirs Offering (Teamfight presence); Quelling Blade (Last-hit control) Tips: Static Link provides shared vision - use it to track enemies; Plasma Field provides flying vision - scout safely against ganks; Focus on last-hitting and denying to snowball early lead; Don't commit fully until you have established Static Link

Mid Game

Timeframe: 15-30 minutes Objective: Control teamfights and push towers Key: Position aggressively with Eye of the Storm to control fights; Use Static Link on priority targets for maximum teamfight impact; Push towers quickly with Eye of the Storm and Vladmirs aura; Control map vision and choke points Items: Desolator (Massive damage boost); Meka or Guardian Greaves (Team survivability); Manta Style (Mobility and split-push) Tips: Eye of the Storm prioritizes Static Linked targets - combo your abilities; Use Plasma Field to check fog and establish vision; Split-push with Manta Style while maintaining teamfight presence

Late Game

Timeframe: 30+ minutes Objective: Scale with DPS and maintain map control Key: Focus on high-impact DPS items like Daedalus; Maintain Static Link on right-click carries; Control vision and fight positioning around towers; Use ultimate to delete priority targets quickly Items: Daedalus (Critical damage); Eye of Skadi (Control and health); Hex or Mjollnir (Disable or damage aura) Tips: Position carefully - you're less mobile than typical carries; Use Static Link to equalize the damage output in key fights; Coordinate with team to force favorable engagements

Tips & Strategies

Static Link Mastery

  • Remember Static Link works through BKB and magic immunity - use this against evasive enemies
  • You can link illusion heroes like Lone Druid's Spirit Bear or Warlock's Golems
  • To cancel Static Link when needed, hold directional move and mash right-click movement
  • Link enemies even if they can't be permanently stolen from - you'll still get temporary damage

Vision Control

  • Plasma Field provides flying vision as it travels - use against invisible heroes
  • Static Link gives shared vision around the target - use for tracking roams and rotations
  • Use flying vision to check high ground safely before advancing

Eye of the Storm Efficiency

  • Always refresh Eye of the Storm when available - it adds another buff rather than stacking on the same target
  • It prioritizes Static Linked targets - establish Link first for maximum damage
  • Does not hit enemies in fog, so control vision before using

Counter Guide

Good With

Razor synergizes with heroes who can create chaos and provide teamfight control. Enigma creates perfect setups with Black Hole, allowing Razor to land multiple Static Links safely. Shadow Shaman provides strong pushing power and disable to help Razor establish early tower control. Tidehunter offers excellent initiation for Razor to capitalize on with Eye of the Storm. Crystal Maiden supports Razor's team with crowd control while Razor maintains lane pressure. The key is heroes who either need additional damage after their setup (Razor's specialty) or provide the lockdown for Razor to safely establish Static Links.

Bad Against

Razor struggles against heroes who can avoid Static Link establishment or outdamage him permanently. Viper and Luna are lane counters with strong ranged harassment that prevents Razor from getting close enough to Link. Phantom Assassin with Coup de Grace makes Razor's damage stealing less effective while she can burst him quickly. Anti-Mage counters Razor by preventing Static Link through mana burn and eventually overwhelming Razor with his own stolen damage amplified. Legion Commander can force fights when Razor's positioning isn't optimal, making Static Link establishment risky. Templar Assassin can avoid Link while dealing massive burst damage at all phases of the game. The pattern: ranged harass heroes, magic immune carries, and burst damage dealers who prevent safe Link establishment.

Good Against

Razor excels against heroes who rely on positioning, illusion spam, or high damage carries that can be stolen. Phantom Lancer and other illusion heroes suffer - Static Link works on illusions, making them less threatening while Razor steals damage from the real hero. Chaos Knight can't escape Link easily and his high base damage makes him very vulnerable to permanent steal if caught. Antimage is vulnerable in lane to early Static Link, and even late-game he often loses the damage race against a well-played Razor. Medusa is a perfect Static Link target - her high intelligence makes her extremely strong, and Static Link can be maintained during her Stone Gaze if you position correctly. Pugna can't avoid Link through Nether Ward, and her squishiness makes her easy prey. Heroes who rely on building up damage over time or those who can't escape Link's radius are perfect matchups.
